THE number of children in Boston schools who do not have English as their first language has almost quadrupled in the past four years.
New figures released by Lincolnshire County Council show there are now 573 pupils in Boston borough who speak English as a second language. This has risen from 152 in 2003.
Adrian Reed is executive headteacher of Carlton Road Primary School and Haven High Technology College, where the proportions of children who do not have English as their first language are now 37 per cent and 15 per cent respectively.
