Experts involved in asbestos testing, removal and treatment of related diseases voice mixed views Friday about a recent study that minimized the risks of asbestos in schools and other public buildings.
Dr. William Rogers of Albany, a specialist in occupational medicine, tended to agree with the study, saying "asbestos only is a risk if disturbed or it gets into the air."
But Jennifer Warner, office manager of Ecology and Environment Inc. of Clifton Park, a removal firm, said "it's a real misconception if the health risk of asbestos is understated."
