Fed: Government urges stressed men to use helpline

The fun and frivolities of Christmas can cause significant stress on family relationships,
especially for men.

Family and Community Services Minister Amanda Vanstone says men, in particular, experience
relationship problems or breakdowns during this time of year.

Senator VANSTONE has urged men struggling with stresses over the Christmas season to
use Men's Line Australia, a phone counselling service that provides a national, 24 hour
a day, seven-day a week family relationships counselling service specifically for men.

Since it started in late September, the service has helped more than 1,300 people across
the country.

Senator VANSTONE says the telephone counselling service was particularly useful for
men living in rural and regional Australia where they may have previously had trouble
accessing appropriate relationship services.

The number of Men's Line Australia is 1300 78 99 78.
